Ojos de Oro, or ‘golden eyes’, is a multiple replication of a version of Ojo, another image in the same collection. This achieves a handsome symmetry, giving an impression of a woven wall hanging, or perhaps a metallic grille lending privacy to an interior window. The image can be enjoyed at any distance, as the fine details encourage close-in study.
Given that the original image is such a tiny part of the whole, the magnification here is not great. For the 18” x 24” print with the 3 x 3 matrix, the enlargement is about 100 times.
We elected to reinforce a metallic interpretation of the image with highlights, and used a gold tint as an allusion to the Spanish influence in the American southwest.
