Zucchini showcases one of the largest, and most ornate pollens we’ve yet examined. These truly tickle the imagination, giving rise to visions of alien spacecraft bristling with defensive weaponry, their multiple hatches ready to reveal fantastic creatures bearing (hopefully!) gifts from a highly advanced civilization. Or they might be some type of deep-sea vehicles, perhaps from our own not-so-distant future. The one certainty is that anyone who sees this work on your wall will be hard put to ignore it!
The central sphere is about 130 micro-meters (0.13mm) in diameter, so a 16” x 24” print would be enlarged about 2800 times.
The tinting is only a little darker than the actual color of this pollen.
